IONE - The Selkirk Rangers boys’ basketball team got solid wins against Republic and Northport last week, beating Republic 42-35 Friday, June 4 and Northport 47-31 Saturday, June 5. The Rangers lost to Cusick Tuesday, June 1 (see related story).

Friday at Republic, Silas Petrich and Ryan Seaney each scored in double figures, with Petrich scoring 14 and Eaney 12 in the 42-35 win.

"Along with Joel Krabbenhoft they helped us control the boards, and the play inside,” Selkirk coach Kelly Cain said. "The team is working hard and improving as we go along."

The team was at home against Northport the next day.

"TJ Taylor and Michael Egland did a nice job defensively rotating on their top scorer picking him up full court man to man," Cain said. "Along with the rest of the team helping out they held him to one basket for the night."

Seaney was the Rangers' top scorer, with 15 points. Krabbenhoft scored 12, and Logan Link had 10 points.

The Rangers have just four games left. They play at home Tuesday against Kettle Falls after the newspaper's deadline. Thursday, June 10, they will go to Valley Christian for a 7:30 game. Tuesday, June 15, they will be back home with Columbia at 7:30 p.m. Selkirk has a 4-4 record. They will finish the season hosting Cusick Thursday, June 17.
