POLICE REPORTS

EDITOR’S NOTE: The police reports, taken from dispatch logs provided to The Miner by law enforcement agencies, are not intended to be an exact report, but rather a comprehensive list of police calls in Pend Oreille and West Bonner counties. Dispatch also fields calls for the Kalispel Tribe’s property in Airway Heights.

Certain police calls are generally omitted because of space constraints. These include, but aren’t limited to ambulance calls for illness, unfounded alarms, traffic stops, dogs at large, abandoned vehicles, 911 hang–ups and civil standbys. All dispositions for the police reports are assumed to be active, assists or transfers at press time.

PEND OREILLE COUNTY

MONDAY, AUG. 12

ARREST: Roberts Dr., Newport, Geoffrey Whittall, 39, was arrested for domestic violence.

ASSAULT: Washington Ave., Newport, report of assault at caller’s tent; subjects threw rocks at tent, came to his spot and hit and kicked him in the stomach.

DISABLED VEHICLE: Hwy. 2, report of a black sedan on the shoulder.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Hwy.

2, Newport, report of a vehicle at the end of the driveway, unknown who; appears to be one individual inside, hood raised. No rear plate.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: Conklin Meadows Rd., report of a cow in and out of the roadway area, last seen in the ditch. More cows near the fence line; not open range.

THREATENING: McCloud Creek Rd., report of caller not able to get subject off property; was threatened by subject after telling him to leave. Caller feels unsafe.

ILLEGAL BURNING: Lunker Lane, Diamond Lake, caller states someone is having an outdoor fire and it scares her.

AGENCY ASSIST: W. Pine St., Newport, report of secure landing of Air Force Survival School helicopter in parking lot.

ARREST: W. Walnut St., Newport, Daniel S. Potter, 46, was arrested for theft, with a full cart of groceries.

FOUND PROPERTY: Qlispe River Way, report of found drugs over several months; taking to be destroyed.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Pines Rd., Newport, report of wife’s family lives two houses down, dogs walked back and forth in front of the house over and over.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: Shadow Lane, Newport, report of dogs on caller’s property.

DISABLED VEHICLE: Deer Valley Rd., Newport, report of a vehicle in the ditch.

MALICIOUS INJURY TO PROPERTY: Calispel Trail Loop, report of subjects destroying inside of tailer house and yard; multiple items broken, trashed internet and cameras.

TUESDAY, AUG. 13

FIRE: W. 7th St., Newport, report of reporting party lighting bees nest on fire earlier in the day; now base of the three is on fire and they can’t put it out.

VIOLATION OF ORDER: Allen Rd., report of subject removing things from an outbuilding she uses.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: Sullivan Lake Rd., report of a non-injury motorcycle accident, down in the ditch.

THEFT: Camden Rd., report of nephew stealing things from property.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: S.

Garden Ave., Newport, report of a vehicle hit, person left.

WELFARE CHECK: S. Warren Ave., Newport, report of a juvenile going door to door asking for money.

TRAFFIC HAZARD: Hwy. 2, report of an RV with both slide outs open.

WELFARE CHECK: Northshore Diamond Lake Rd., report of two gunshots heard from neighbor’s house.

MOTOR-VEHICLE CRASH: Hwy. 20, report of a non-injury vehicle vs. deer accident.

JAIL HOUSING: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Jackie C. Ellis, 50, was arrested on a warrant.

FIRE: Mckay St., report of someone trying to burn a camper; caller can see smoke.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 14

ARREST: N. Washington Ave., Newport, Kierra Marie Delay, 21, of Newport was arrested on a local warrant.

BOOK AND RELEASE: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Chad Darrel Buffan, 50, of Northport was booked and released for driving under the influence.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: Northshore Diamond Lake, report of subjects driving through property, damaging things.

ARREST: Shadows Drive N., Christopher P MacDonald, 45, of Cusick and Jessica Lynn Culp, 41, of Cusick were arrested on warrants.

THREATENING: Spring Valley Rd., report of subject making threats and refusing to return dog.

TRESPASSING: Sullivan Lake Rd., person believes squatters are on property.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: LeClerc Rd. N., report of vehicle rollover.

ILELGAL BURNING: Deer Valley Rd., report of illegal burning in the area.

RUNAWAY JUVENILE: W.

Walnut St., Newport, report that juvenile son is running around town and won’t listen.

ARREST: W. Pine St., Newport, Myles Robertson, 37, of Airway Heights was arrested for interfering with a healthcare facility.

FIRE: Hwy. 20, person report something looks like a bonfire across the river.

ILLEGAL BURNING: E. 4th Ave., report of campfire in yard.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Hwy. 20 & McCloud, report of unknown vehicle seen in the driveway down the road.

FIRE SMOKE ONLY: S. Grandview Ave., report that person can smell strong smoke in alley of apartments.

DISTURBANCE: W. Pine St., Newport, report of patient being combative on scene.

THURSDAY, AUG. 15

Newport Ave., report of juveniles causing problems and also heard screaming.

HARASSMENT: Mill Creek, report that person received harassing phone calls from individual.

ILLEGAL BURNING: Little Spokane River, report of subject burning brush.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Sullivan Lake Rd., report of a letter stating someone found a grave several years ago on Snyder Hill.

HARASSMENT: Jorgens Rd., person reports that respondent in unserved protection order continues to harass her.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: S. Washington Ave., Newport, report of female hit by car.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: Sullivan Lake, report of individuals damaging county property.

FRAUD: Baker Lake Rd., person reports that niece stole her credit card info yesterday and has been using it.

THEFT: W Blackwell St., report that dirtbike was stolen and the thief is trying to sell it on Facebook.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Graham Rd., report that person received suspicious email from his daughter’s ex.

TRESPASSING: Houghton St., person believes trespassed subject is at residence now.

TRESPASSING: Houghton St., report that male is at property and isn’t allowed there.

THREATENING: Main St., report that male keeps coming outside and being belligerent.

FRIDAY, AUG. 16

ILLEGAL BURNING: W. 1st St., Newport, report of subject burning in back yard.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Wright Ave., report of door left ajar on building.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Cemetery Lane, report that vehicle has been parked in cemetery on and off for a week.

POSSIBLE DUI: Fertile Valley Rd., report of law enforcement on scene requesting check on male passed out in vehicle.

CHILD ABUSE: Main St., report of suspected child abuse.

ARREST: Leclerc Rd. N., Bradley A Newman, 61, of Ione was arrested for driving under the influence.

ARREST: Houghton St., Jacqueline T. Mills Grover, 38, of Ocean Shores was arrested for first degree trespassing.
