Newport head football coach Mark Duxbury teaches young players at the team’s fifth practice Monday. Duxbury takes over from longtime coach Dave Pomante, who retired as a head coach. The team has 44 players out, Duxbury says, a healthy sized turnout. The Grizzlies will see their first action Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Lakeside Jamboree. They’ll play their first game of the season against Riverside at home Friday, Sept. 6.
