NEWPORT – Local restaurant Brownells’ will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in mid-September.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant Friday, Sept.13.
Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Shari Brownell about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date. Brownells’ has been open since 2021, and was nominated to be on an episode of the Roadshow by Mark Palm, who emphasized every aspect of the dining experience in his nomination.
“Spectacular food, friendly staff and excellent service,” Palm wrote.
“The owners are also the chefs, so the concern and attention to detail is a huge part of every meal. I give this establishment five stars for menu choice, food taste and portion.” The spacious, industrial-esque interior showcases the Pacific Northwest with a mountain range mural on one wall, and the atmosphere is further enhanced by whitewashed brick walls, pendant and rope lighting, and greenery accents. The menu offers “modern dishes that capture the flavors of all cultural backgrounds, the season, and our chef’s own individual creations.”
Popular menu items that may be featured on the episode include Strippers, breaded chicken tenders tossed in ‘secret sauce’ and served with spicy ranch; any of the burgers, such as The Original Gangster, a half- pound smashburger with cheese, lettuce, heirloom tomato, pickles and spicy aioli on a house-made challah bun; and the Ding Dong, a housemade individual chocolate cake with cream filling.
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Friday, Sept. 13 from 3-6 p.m. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website at americasbestrestaurants. com/rests/ washington/brownells.
