Che joins Newport Health Center

NEWPORT – Dr. Lembi Che, Nurse Practitioner, recently joined the team of providers at Newport Health Center. Che filled the second Express Care provider role as the clinic recently extended Express Care hours of operation, according to a news release from Newport Health and Hospital Services. Che came to the United States in 2007 from West Africa. In Africa, Che was a manager at a financial institution and stated that she didn’t have job satisfaction. She started her healthcare career as a nursing assistant in an assisted living facility.

“As a CNA I found my niche and passion,” she said. From there, she completed nursing prerequisites at Walla Walla Community College and then transferred to Lewis Clark State College for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Che states she yearned for more knowledge in the nursing field and continued with a Master of Science in Nursing before receiving an applied doctoral degree from Gonzaga University. Che is a board-certified family nurse practitioner.

Che’s experience spans patient care as well as education, teaching community college nursing students for seven years. From pediatric to geriatric patient care and everything in-between, Che says, “I can handle anything, and I want the community to know I’ll do my best to take care of them. I’m just a small-town girl from a little community.”

When Che isn’t caring for patients, she enjoys cooking, grocery shopping, listening to music and spending time with her family. She is the mother of five children – three boys and twin daughters.
