CHEWELAH – Jacquelin Maycumber, coming off an unsuccessful Congressional campaign, will be the new Chief Strategy Officer for NEW Health, the open access healthcare company announced in a news release.
Maycumber is currently Northeast Washington’s 7th Legislative District Representative and has been since 2017. She didn’t seek reelection, instead running for Congress, where she finished third in the Primary Election.
In her role with NEW Health, she will oversee Strategic Planning initiatives and will prioritize developing the Chewelah Middle School project and the Regional Workforce Development Center. Maycumber has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and spent time as a biomedical research scientist as well as a law enforcement officer.
Maycumber brings extensive experience in healthcare policy and workforce apprenticeships. She and her husband Marty live in Republic with their three children.
“I’m excited to join the innovative team at NEW Health, an organization that has long been a cornerstone in our community,” Maycumber said. “Their dedication to providing healthcare and award-winning career pathways, from pre-apprenticeships in high school to meaningful, long-term careers, is truly inspiring. I look forward to contributing to their mission of building the workforce for the next generation and advancing the health and well-being of our community.”
NEW Health has restructured its organizational framework to include a new position: External Relations Manager. Brandon Hansen, a Chewelah native with a background in economic development and journalism, has been hired for this role. Hansen was the Regional Economic Development Specialist with Tri County Economic Development District (TEDD) before moving to NEW Health. Hansen has background in grant writing and management, along with two decades of experience working in media. He was editor of the Chewelah Independent for years. His expertise will play a crucial role in outreach for NEW Health, supporting federal grant efforts and the development of the future Chewelah campus. Hansen and his wife Morgan live in Chewelah with their two children.
“NEW Health is excited about the future growth and the valuable contributions both Jacquelin and Brandon bring to our organization as we continue to support healthcare and workforce needs in our communities,” CEO of NEW Health Desiree Sweeney said. “Having had the opportunity to collaborate with them on previous projects, we are thrilled to now have them officially join us. It’s truly an exciting time at NEW Health.”
