Metaline Falls town office closed Set. 16-20

METALINE FALLS – The Town of Metaline Falls office is closed Sept. 16-20, as the town clerk is out on medical leave, Mayor Tara Leininger said. If people call with a question, they should leave a message, Leininger said, as the phone will be checked daily. The office will be open Monday, Sept. 23.

The town will hold its first budget hearing Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 5:45 p.m., it was announced at the Sept. 10 council meeting. Council members had questions for Clerk/Treasurer Siri Cates on expanding the budget items to include several past years, as well as other clarifications, Leininger reported in a news release.

Maintenance Director Neil Bennett reported on the ongoing sewer pipe blockage issues and a vapor lock on one of the lagoon aerators. A tree that went down by the Aydelott house has been cleared by the PUD and Bennett. The asphalt work should begin later this month on 1st Avenue, and the several patch areas around town.

A new agenda format was being used in order to make sure all business brought before the council is current.

In old business, previous items from the past year were reviewed and discussion included postposing the new Christmas tree until next year.

The next meeting of the Metaline Falls Town Council will be Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.
