Saturday around the Park in Newport

Young bike riders and their parents turned up for the 10th annual Bike Rodeo, held at the Sadie Halstead Middle School, while Viking fans (real Vikings, not the football team) gathered at Newport City Park for ‘Let’s Vike It’ a celebration of Viking culture.

The Bike Rodeo drew 79 participants, giving away helmets until they ran out. Foxx Kreider was a key assistant coordinator for this event, securing several of the volunteers as well as arranging for professional mechanics, said Glennis Stott, who has been involved since the start.

The Pend Oreille County Library District, Newport Police Department, Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office, and US Border Patrol were also key supporters of this event.
