Phillips to transition out of role over the next year
NEWPORT – Some changes are taking place at Youth Emergency Services (YES) of Pend Oreille County this week, with Sarah Phillips transitioning out of the role as Executive Director beginning Monday, Sept. 30. Phillips, who assumed the position in 2016, will be moving into the role of Grant Administrator, tasked with project development, grant writing and reporting, as well as training the incoming Executive Director, Kellie Dean.
“It is expected that my role will continue for at least one year,” Phillips wrote in the YES quarterly newsletter. Dean is the current Finance Manager of YES and has been chosen by the organization’s Board of Directors to step into the position of Executive Director.
“I will be assisting her with learning all of the day-to-day operations from an ED point of view,” Phillips says.
“She is very passionate about the mission of YES and has been instrumental in creating robust and transparent fiscal policies and procedures.”
Phillips said that she looks forward to working with her colleagues and community in her new role as grant administrator.
“There are still many ways I hope to contribute to Pend Oreille County,” Phillips says. “Thank you all so very much for the support that you have given to YES over the years. You are all partners in this work, and it is a testament to your spirit of caring for your community.”
YES is committed to supporting homeless and at-risk young people ages 12-24 in the Pend Oreille County area. YES’s drop-in center, located in Newport, is a safe and supervised, environment where kids can shower, wash their clothes, get a warm meal and meet with their case managers.
