LAKESIDE – The Newport High School cross-country team achieved several personal records at the Lake Spokane Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Lakeside High School.
According to coach Levi Litowitz, senior Brayden Baugh had a big personal record (PR) of almost a minute for the boys at 21:37.55, coming in at 28th place.
All the girls had personal records with Olivia Collins taking 7th overall with a time of 22:26.5.
Other Grizzly competitors included junior William Rheinford, who finished at 36th with a time of 20:37.55. John Spring, a senior, had a time of 21:08.72 at 41st place. Sophomore Bruce Bojoruez finished 49th with a time of 23:53.66. Junior Donovan Mason came in 58th place at 24:32.42.
For the girls, Sophia Peaker, a freshman, placed 18th with a time of 24:56.05. Sophomore Kasey St. Andre came in 26th place with a time of 27:57.85.
The Grizzlies competed at the NE1B/2B Meet No. 2, held at 49 Degrees Mountain Resort Tuesday, Oct. 1 after the newspaper’s deadline. Results from that event will be in next week’s newspaper.
Next up is the 7th Annual Battle for the 509 Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Spokane Polo Grounds at 8:45 a.m. After that Newport will host the NE1B/2B League Meet Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.
