Plant sale returns May 4
NEWPORT – The WSU/Pend Oreille County Master Gardeners annual plant sale will take place Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. (or until sold out), at the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden Greenhouse, northwest of the WSU/Pend Oreille County Extension Office at 227 South Garden Avenue in Newport.
The last sale was in 2019. Hanging flower baskets as well as vegetables, annuals, perennials, herbs, house plants, shrubs are some the items offered. People are asked to pay with cash or check only. please.
Plant sale shoppers may park in the surrounding parking lots (Extension Office, Weed Board, and Hall of Justice) but are requested to not park on Circle Drive, which will be designated for handicapped parking and loading zones. Money raised by this annual sale is used to provide gardening classes for the community, maintain the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden and support the Master Gardener Program. The adjacent Master Gardener Demonstration Garden will also be open to visitors and Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions and give garden tours. West Bonner school levy information meetings set
PRIEST RIVER – The West Bonner County School District board of trustees has set a series of informational meetings about the one year, $4.68 million levy that will appear on the May 21 ballot.
Wednesday, May 1, a meeting will be held at the Blanchard Grange at 36 Mason Rd. in Blanchard. Monday, May 6, a meeting will take place at the Blue Lake Grange at 9518 Eastside Rd. Tuesday, May 7, a meeting will be held at the Edgemere Grange at 3273 Bandy Rd. Wednesday, May 8, a meeting will take place at Priest River Lamanna High School at 596 Highway 57. Monday, May 13, a meeting will be held at the Laclede Community Center at 24 Moore Loop in Laclede. Tuesday, May 14, a meeting will be held at Idaho Hill Elementary at 402 E. Third St. in Oldtown. All meetings start at 6 p.m.
