POST FALLS – The Priest River girls soccer team ended the season with a 6-0 loss to Bonners Ferry Monday, Oct. 14, finishing the year with a 0-11-1 record.
Priest River will lose most of this year’s team to graduation, including Lizzie McCracken, who scored most of Priest River’s goals. Katrina Davis, Haley Braae and Macie Olmo also scored for the Spartans but only Olmo, a sophomore, will be back. Davis and Braae are seniors.
The Spartans will also miss senior goalkeeper Kylee Swoboda, who performed well considering it was her first year in that position, Spartan assistant coach Nick Tucker says. “It’s a hard position to play at the high school level,” he says.
Other seniors who will not be back include Emily Bordina and Clara Kennedy. Two other seniors may return, Kaity Miller and Emma Giachino.
Tucker says players younger than 20 who have not played four years of high school soccer are eligible to play in certain situations.
According to Rule 8 of the Idaho Interscholastic Activities Association, “When a student from a member school enrolls in any college course, summer school, night school course, or correspondence course approved by the Idaho State Department of Education and such student desires to have the credits count toward IHSAA scholastic eligibility requirements, the student must obtain written approval from the high school principal stating that each specific course credit will be accepted and counted toward graduation.”
