County commissioners to discuss tri-county superior court, juvenile budget

Next week last issue for political letters to the editor
NEWPORT – Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. The Miner long-standing policy is to run letters to the editor regarding an election the week prior to the election day. That means next week, Wednesday, Oct. 23, is the last issue we will run political letters to the editor before the general election.
The deadline for letters to the editor is 5 p.m. Friday. Word limit is 300. Include your name, phone number and town of residence. Letters can be submitted by emailing them to [email protected].
‘Souptober’ Fest Oct. 18
CUSICK – Souptober Fest, the American Legion’s first soup contest, will take place Friday, Oct. 18, from 4-7 p.m. at the Cusick American Legion Post at 105 Timber St. in Cusick. “We’ve done chili contests before but this is our first soup contest,” Marjie Miller said.
There is a $15 entrance fee for people entering their soup. For people attending there is a $5 charge, which includes endless samples of soup, judging privileges and drink specials. To enter, call 509-445-1537 or stop by the American Legion and talk to a bartender.
