EDITOR’S NOTE: The police reports, taken from dispatch logs provided to The Miner by law enforcement agencies, are not intended to be an exact report, but rather a comprehensive list of police calls in Pend Oreille and West Bonner counties. Dispatch also fields calls for the Kalispel Tribe’s property in Airway Heights. Certain police calls are generally omitted because of space constraints. These include, but aren’t limited to ambulance calls for illness, unfounded alarms, traffic stops, dogs at large, abandoned vehicles, 911 hang–ups and civil standbys. ANIMAL PROBLEM: Wildflower Lane, Newport, report that neighbors’ dogs won’t stop barking.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: Le-Clerc Rd. N., hit and run reported.

FOUND PROPERTY: Hwy. 2, Newport

DISTURBANCE: W. Kelly Drive, Newport, report of 2 homeless males cutting their way out of trees with machetes.

ANIMAL BITE: Southshore Diamond Lake Rd., report that FedEx driver was attacked by a mastiff mix.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Sullivan Lake Rd., Ione, report that neighbors shoot across highway every day from their porch.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: Telephone Rd. E., Newport, report of aggressive dog on property, Pitbull mix barking and charging at them.

TREPASSING: Lehigh Ave., Metaline Falls, report that residents next door have not paid for tree trimming, female came over onto her porch yelling at her.

TUESDAY, OCT. 15 THREATENING: Monumental Way, Cusick, report of juvenile sending threatening texts to others.

JUVENILE PROBLEM: W. 5th St., Newport, 3rd party report of a juvenile problem.

VEHICLE PROWL: S. Fea Ave., Newport, person reports sometime from 2 a.m. till 6 a.m. a purse was taken from her vehicle.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VERBAL: Sullivan Lake Rd., Ione, report of argument after breakup.

VEHICLE PROWL: Laurelhurst Drive, Newport, report of theft from vehicle.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: W. Sacheen St., Cusick, person believes someone was coming into trailer.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 16 THEFT: Hwy. 2, report that someone took his shovel in the last month or so.

POSSIBLE DUI: Hwy. 211 & Jared Rd., report of black Kia SUV all over the road.

ARREST: Hwy. 2, Newport, Krystal B. Coyle, 38, of Newport was arrested for fourth degree assault domestic violence.

ANIMAL CRUELTY: Valley View Drive, Newport, person wants to speak to deputy regarding neglected dogs.

DECEASED PERSON: Fertile Valley Rd., Newport, person believes husband is deceased.

FIRE: Juanita Lane, Elk, person having issues with wood stove filled house with smoke, is wanting someone to check it.

BURGLARY: S. Washington Ave., Newport, report that someone broke into the store sometime between noon today and now.

ARREST: Riverside Ave., Ione, Luke J. Schmidt, 40, of Ione was arrested for third degree malicious mischief.

THURSDAY, OCT. 17 MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH NO INJURY: Honeysuckle Drive, report of vehicle upside down partially in roadway, no one around.

VIOLATION OF ORDER: Rocky Creek Rd., report that son is violating a protection order.

ABANDONED VEHICLE: Hwy.

20, report that motorhome has been in pullout on highway for a week.

SEX OFFENSE: Turtle Rd.

SUSPICOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: W. 4th Ave.

ASSAULT: W. 5th St., report of cold assault.

FIRE SMOKE ONLY: Kirkpatrick Rd. & Hwy. 2, report that house on the corner has a lot of smoke.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE: Calispel Trail Loop, report that neighbor hit complainant’s dog again.

TRAFFIC HAZARD: Hwy. 31, report of water and mud coming down onto the road.

SUSOICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Telephone Rd. E., person believes stolen horse trailer may be at this location.

RUNAWAY JUVENILE: W. Kelly Drive, report that juvenile son ran away.

Ring, 31, of Ione was arrested for second degree criminal trespass.

FRIDAY, OCT. 18 FIRE: Yarrow Lane, single story structure fully engulfed.

ARREST: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Amy L. Olson, 51, of Newport was arrested on local warrants.

LOST PROPERTY: Lehigh Ave., report of firearm possibly lost sometime in last year and a half.

HARASSMENT: Deer Valley Rd., report that person believes subject is trying to harass him.

TRESPASSING: Allen Rd., report of possible trespassing on property east of residence.

THREATENING: Kirkpatrick Rd., report that complainant was threatened while serving papers.

ARREST: W. Wisconsin Ave., John L. Regan, 38, of Ione was arrested for violation of a protection order.

FOUND PROPERTY: W. Walnut St., Newport, report that bicycle was left overnight at store.

Washington Ave., Newport, report of male subject walking down sidewalk with a knife out talking to himself.

ARREST: Shadows Drive N., Christopher P MacDonald, 45, of Cusick was arrested on a felony warrant.

JUVENILE PROBLEM: W. Walnut St., Newport, report of juveniles playing chicken in the roadway.

SUNDAY, OCT 20 VEHICLE PROWL: N. Newport Ave., report of vehicle broken into and some items taken.

VEHICLE PROWL: W. Larch St., report of vehicle broken into sometime over night.

VEHICLE PROWL: S. Spokane Ave., report that daughter’s car was broken into last night and wallet was taken.

VEHICLE PROWL: N. Washington Ave., Newport, report that vehicle was broken into last night.

Weston, 42, of Spokane Valley was

arrested for fourth degree assault domestic violence.

VEHICLE PROWL: W. 8th St., report of subject caught on camera attempting to get into vehicles.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: Coyote Trail, report of heavy damage to guard rail.

DEATH INVESTIGATION: Al’s Welding Rd., Spirit Lake

ARREST: Hwy. 2, Oldtown, David Whitten, 61, of Sagle was arrested for three outstanding felony warrants, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and false information to law enforcement.

THURSDAY, OCT. 17 PARKING VIOLATION: Priest River

ARREST: Hwy. 2 & Larch St., Priest River, Renae Akers, 53, of Priest River was arrested for possession of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, and 2 counts possession of paraphernalia.

FRIDAY, OCT. 18 MISDEMEANOR WARRANT ARREST: Hwy. 2, Priest River ACCIDENT: Hwy. 41 & Old Forest Rd., Spirit Lake

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Hwy. 2 & Old Diamond Mill Rd., Oldtown, a 19-year-old Newport man was cited and released for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: N.

Washington Ave. & E. 3rd St. N., Oldtown, marijuana and paraphernalia was seized for destruction following a traffic stop.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Main St., Priest River, deputies responded to a report of a fight.
