Spartan girls win big at Rams River Invite

Top spots for girls, boys

NINE MILE FALLS – The Spartan cross country team kept the pace at the 2nd Annual Rams River Invite Saturday, Oct. 19 at Riverside State Park, with the Priest River girls’ team winning first place in the 5,000-meter race. Priest River junior Capri White won first place with a time of 25:18.59, followed by classmate Kyla White in second place at 25:40.51, and sophomore Alannah McLaimtaig in third at 26:05.53. Senior Kylee Swoboda was in seventh at 29:17.21.

Sophomore Breelynn Duran finished in eighth place at 30:32.61 and senior Haley Braae followed in ninth place at 30:36.57. Senior Hannah Leitch was in 12th place at 33:20.19.

Sophomore Daniel Gunkle took second place in the boys’ 5,000-meter race with a time of 20:43.49. Classmate Gunnar Pettit came in 11th at 22:59.35. Freshman Maxwell Hewitt had a time of 23:59.88, earning him 22nd place. Jonathan White, a sophomore, came in 28th place at 24:39.25. There were more than 42 runners in the race.

This Thursday, Oct. 24 the Spartans travel to the Pinehurst Golf Course for the District I-II 3A Championship. The bus leaves Priest River Lamanna High School at noon.
