Lady Panthers volleyball splits losses
IONE – Cusick volleyball (1-13, 1-10) had a tough week, losing to Selkirk (6-7, 4-6) 3-1 at an away 1B league match Thursday, Oct. 24. Earlier last week the visiting Northport Mustangs (12-2, 11-0) defeated the Panthers 3-0.
Current league standings have Northport in the number one spot, followed by Curlew, Inchelium, Republic and Selkirk. Cusick is in sixth place with Columbia-Hunters in seventh.
Cusick beats Columbia
CUSICK – The Cusick Panthers Football team solidly beat winless Columbia- Hunters 74-24. Further details were unavailable.
Cusick (4-1, 4-3) goes to Curlew (4-1, 4-3) for the next game Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. Cusick and Curlew are tied for second place in the Northeast 1B North league, behind Inchelium (5-0, 6-2) and ahead of Selkirk (2-3, 2-5), Springdale (2-3, 2-5), Republic (1-6, 1-7) and Columbia-Hunters (0-6, 0-8).
Hornets sting Rangers
IONE – The Selkirk- Northport Rangers football team was unable to blemish the Inchelium Hornets unblemished league season, losing 74-8 at home.
Selkirk-Northport next hosts Springdale’s Mary Walker Friday, at 7 p.m.
Grizzly girls’ soccer loses to Kettle Falls
DAVENPORT – The Newport High School girls’ soccer team went up against Davenport and lost 6-0 in an away game Tuesday, Oct. 22. Newport (29-0, 1-8) had a tough time against Davenport (10-3-0, 8-2), the second ranked team in the 2B league after Freeman (14-0, 110). Newport is the sixth ranked team out of seven with Kettle Falls (0-12-0, 0-11) ranking seventh.
Newport hosted the Kettle Falls Bulldogs after the newspaper went to print Tuesday. Results from that game will be in next week’s newspaper. Newport will host Northwest Christian Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.
Newport volleyball against St. George’s
NEWPORT – The Newport High School volleyball team (5-6, 5-5) hosted St. George’s (3-12, 3-7) Tuesday, Oct. 29 after the newspaper went to print. Results from that game will be in next week’s newspaper. Tie-breaker games are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30 (TBA).
