Lamanna continues winning streak

PINEHURST — Priest River Lamanna High senior Brayden Lamanna continues to take top spots in cross-country, winning the 3A Central Idaho League district title by over a full minute at the Pinehurst Golf Course Thursday, Oct. 24.

Lamanna ran a 5,000-meter time of 16 minutes and 10 seconds, almost identical to his time of 16 minutes and eight seconds at Pinehurst just three weeks ago, according to the Bonner County Daily Bee.

Sophomore Daniel Gunkle cracked the top 10 mark for the Spartans, finishing ninth in a new personal best time of 19 minutes and 12 seconds.

The Priest River cross-country boys’ team scored third place overall with a total of 53 points. Kellogg was in first place with 25 and Grangeville had 51 for second place.

On the girls’ side, sophomore Alannah McLaimtaig was fifth with a time of 23:22 and senior Kylee Swoboda finished sixth at 23:40, both achieving new personal best times. Junior Capri White was in eighth place at 23:51, junior Kyla White followed in ninth place with a time of 24:13 and senior Haley Braae was 10th at 27:23, with the Lady Spartans rounding out the top ten finishers.

The girls’ team finished second overall with a score of 38. Grangeville was first at 17.

Priest River will compete next at the 3A state championship meet on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Eagle Island State Park.
