DEER PARK – Newport was defeated by Deer Park in an away baseball game 14-4, that went six innings Saturday, April 27. Newport started strong with two runs against six for Deer Park in the first inning, but Deer Park quickly dominated and never let go of the lead.

Brody Driver went two for four with two runs and an RBI for Newport.

Newport played Medical Lake at home Tuesday, April 30 after newspaper deadline. If Newport wins, they play against Riverside Thursday, then on to the first round of the playoffs.

Selkirk nine lose to Springdale

SPRINGDALE – Selkirk baseball, despite a valiant effort in the first and last innings, was defeated by Springdale in the first game of a Northeast 1B North league doubleheader Saturday, April 27, final score 24-8.

Selkirk’s Caden Pichette, Cameron Kulcyk, Zach VanMeer and Parker Petrich, swung and hit singles while Porter Larson and Kory Enyeart hit doubles.

The second game had similar results, ending in a Selkirk loss 11-2.

Selkirk played Odessa Tuesday, April 30 after newspaper deadline. Selkirk plays Cusick in an away game Friday, May 3, 9 a.m. It is their last game of the regular season.

Selkirk drops doubleheader to Springdale

SPRINGDALE – Selkirk softball was defeated in a lopsided double header against Springdale Saturday, April 27, coming under heat 17-2 in the first game.

The second game, Selkirk did better with a final score 21-10. Further details were unavailable.

Selkirk will play at Inchelium Thursday, May 2 at 3:30 p.m. Selkirk goes to the softball league tournament at Kettle Falls Saturday, May 4.
