KELLOGG – Priest River Spartan golfers returned from Galena Ridge in Kellogg with some personal records and a second-place finish for the boys’ team.
Priest River girls Pavin Coleman shot a 97; Aleigha Jensen, 101; Paityn Yount, 111; while Brooklyn Best will return next week. The girls didn’t get a team score, as Best was missing.
Jensen had a good match, with multiple pars and a near miss birdie on the 11th hole, scoring a new career low round.
Same with Yount, with two pars and a birdie - her first tournament birdie - along with another birdie that lipped out and a new career low tournament round.
Pavin had a near hole-in-one, one foot away, and first tournament birdie, coach Jim Bob Coleman says.
Palmer Coleman scored a 71 for the Spartan boys. Nate Fegert shot a 99; Jade Best a 99, Braxton Knaack a 109; and Cody Crettel scored a118.
“Braxton continues to lower his rounds every week. No highlights but chipping and putting are better,” Coleman says.
Palmer Coleman had no three putts and his fourth straight second place finish.
- Best hit with a 42 on his back nine and his career low round.
- Fegert had a hole out from 30 yards for his first tournament birdie - Cody in his first event shoots 63-55, making a nice improvement on his second nine.
“Again we had five scores come in as their best tournament rounds,” Coleman says. Priest River played at St. Maries Tuesday, April 30 after newspaper deadline. They play again at Big Creek Golf Club vs. Wallace Jr/Sr High School Thursday, May 2 starting at 11 a.m. Then to districts.
