Students honor veterans at assembly
Veterans from all the branches of the military were in attendance Friday morning.

NEWPORT – The entire Newport School District gathered at Newport High School Friday morning to honor veterans. Schools, businesses and organizations around the country held assemblies and ceremonies, offered discounts and thanked both active service members and veterans for their service to the United States.

The Newport High School choir and band performed.
Third graders from Stratton Elementary sang the Star Spangled Banner.
Josie Moser sang God Bless the USA with accompaniment from members of the community.
Veterans were acknowledged by branch of the military during the assembly.
