PASCO - Newport freshman Olivia Collins beat her personal record (PR) at the Washington Cross-Country Championships in Pasco Saturday, Nov. 9. Collins ranked 52nd at the start of the meet and finished 38th with a new PR time of 21:53.
Collin’s first mile was timed at 6:57 and she was in 55th, according to assistant coach Levi Litowitz.
Her second mile split was timed at 14:07.5 and she was in 43rd, meaning she moved up 12 places since her first mile. When she finished, she moved up to 38th gaining another five spots.
“Olivia’s first time of the season was 27:40 and improving that much is really inspiring,” coach Morgan Johnson says. “Her hard work and dedication to achieving her goals was incredible to watch throughout the season. We are very proud of her and excited to see her continue to compete in the years to come.” The state meet was held at Sunnyside Golf Course.
