Casting call for One Act Play Festival

NEWPORT – Out of the Box Entertainment will be casting for the 2025 One Act Play Festival. The troupe is seeking talented individuals ages13 and up to join the production. No prior experience or extensive audition process is required.

The festival will kick off the 2025 season on Feb. 28, March 1-2 at Create Arts Center in Newport. Rehearsals will be scheduled to accommodate the cast’s availability.

In addition to actors, the production also needs directors and individuals interested in behind-the-scenes roles such as sound, lighting, props, stage management and costuming.

Country Christmas at Circle Moon

SACHEEN LAKE – Music Director Mark D. Caldwell and Northwoods Performing Arts presents the annual holiday show, titled, “For Unto Y’All, A Country Christmas.”

This show takes the audience to the hard-scrabble, rip-roaring town of Nazareth, Wyoming, where all manner of recognizable characters live, work and play.

Knee-slapping tunes abound, as does the beautiful, spiritual, and harmonic chorale music viewers have come to expect from Northwoods.

“Unto Y’All” performances are scheduled on Dec. 6-7, 10, and 12-14. Gala Night on Dec. 6 includes a served, sit-down prime rib dinner for $45 per person. Show only tickets are not available on Gala Night. All other dinner show tickets are $35 per person, and $14 for show only. Senior and children’s tickets are $12. Dining service begins at 6:30 p.m. and the curtain opens at 7:30 p.m.

Fiber arts studios

NEWPORT – Create Art Center hosts several fiber arts groups, including the spinners workshop, which meets Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants are encouraged to bring their spinning wheels, crochet and/or knitting needles.

North Country Weavers meet every second Wednesday of the month from noon to 3 p.m. Those interested in joining that group are asked to call ahead first. The hand stitchery group meets every third Wednesday of the month from 1-3 p.m. Mediums include hand stitchery applique, cross stitch, embroidery, crochet, knitting and any handwork. This group is open to anyone of any skill level.

Creative play dates for kids at Create

NEWPORT – Creative artistic play dates for kids ages 8-12 will be the first and third Wednesdays of every month, 3-4:30 p.m. at Create Art Center. The play dates will be guided by local artist Clare Clark. Registration is required and can be done by going to Create at 900 W.

4th St., in Newport or online at www.createarts.org.

The classes are offered free by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. After school snacks will be provided.

Stained glass ornaments class Saturday

NEWPORT – There will be a stained glass ornaments class Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at Create Art Center. Cost is $25, which includes all supplies. The class size is limited to eight people and the minimum age limit for participants is 12 years old. Pre-registration is required. Class fees can be paid by going in to Create at 900 W. 4th St.in Newport, calling 509-4479277 or online at www.createarts.org.
