NEWPORT – Festival of Trees returns to Newport Saturday, Dec. 7, and like pre-pandemic operations, it’s one day only.
The NHHS Foundation Board voted to hold the event in Newport Community Hospital’s Ponderosa Room to better manage event expenses and display all prize trees in one location.
The event entrance is located at the corner of Spruce Street and Scott Avenue.
“We are thrilled to host the event on the NHHS campus this year,” said Kim Manus, Interim CEO / CFO.
“We had to pivot locations for a few years due to the pandemic and space concerns, but the Ponderosa has been renovated and should make for a festive venue.”
Admission is free to anyone from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and families are invited to experience the holiday fun with free crafts, cookie decorating, face painting and free Santa photos for children. Everyone will enjoy the beautifully decorated trees, festive atmosphere, and winter wonderland. Eventgoers can sip on some hot cocoa or coffee while listening to the holiday music throughout the day. Raffle tickets for this year’s decorated prize trees are only $1, and winners will be announced during the Holiday Gala.
The Holiday Gala starts at 5 p.m. and includes tree viewing, holiday music, hors d’oeuvres, prime rib dinner, dessert, and no-host beer and wine bar. Raffle tickets may be purchased in-person by adults (18 years old +), and participants are encouraged to play responsibly. Individuals who have been harmed by gambling may call 1-800-GAMBLER for help.
