Tundra Swans use the lake in spring migration, but these bigger birds are beginning to use Calispell Lake also. “We don’t know where they are coming from,” local bird enthusiast John Stuart says. “There are over 100 birds on the lake at present. The population in the western U.S. do not migrate south but over-winter in warmish areas in Oregon and Idaho and in Puget Sound.”
