Mike Peterson, warehouse manager for the Pend Oreille Public Utility District, uses a forklift to maneuver a new book donation drop box on to the back porch of the Pend Oreille County Library District Office Tuesday, Nov. 26. According to POCLD Newport Friends President Katie Schutte, book donations from the community to the POCLD Friends were being damaged by the weather before volunteers could get to them. The Kalispel Tribe of Indians approved a request to design and donate a book drop that will help solve the issue. “We are so grateful to the Tribe for their contribution and to the PUD for helping install it,” Schutte says.
