Cusick boys off to winning start
CUSICK – The Cusick Panthers boys’ basketball team start the season with a trio of wins. They beat St. John-Endicott/ LaCrosse in back-to-back games Dec. 3 and 5.
In Tuesday’s away game the Panthers got a 72-43 win. Two days later the Panthers beat St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse in a similar style, winning 73-48.
Scoring stats weren’t available for the first game, but in the second game three Panthers scored in double digits, with Roland Campbell leading all scorers with 18 points, with three 3-pointers. Daniel Lyon had 17 points, including three 3-pointers and Mateo Holmes scored a dozen points, all 3-pointers.
Cusick was at home for a 59-46 win over Springdale Friday, Dec. 6.
The Panthers (3-1) are at home Friday against Curlew (0-3). The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Cusick travels to Republic (2-1) for a game that starts at 6 p.m.
Priest River girls on a roll
PRIEST RIVER – The Priest River girls’ basketball team opened the season with four consecutive wins, defeating Kootenai twice, Genesis Prep and Clark Fork.
The Spartans got their first wins against Kootenai in November. Tuesday, Dec. 3, they beat Genesis Prep and Thursday, Dec. 5 they beat Clark Fork 50-23 at Clark Fork.
According to The Bonner County Daily Bee, Desi Humphrey scored 20 points for the Spartans, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead all scorers. Lizzie McCracken scored 10 points for Priest River.
The Spartans go to Genesis Prep Thursday, Dec. 12 for a game that starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, Priest River goes to Orofino for a 1:30 p.m. game and Monday Dec. 16, they are home against Riverside.
