Nominate a public school teacher to win $1,000
SEATTLE – Each month, Davis Law Group Car Accident and Personal Injury Lawyers will select one deserving teacher in Washington State public schools to receive a $1,000 gift card to use on supplies for their classroom.
Anyone can nominate a teacher. A teacher can nominate themselves, they can be nominated by a parent, student, administrator, etc. A teacher or classroom is only eligible to win one time. Currently, only teachers within Washington public school systems are eligible. Winners will be notified via email. Information about the monthly winners and their classrooms will also be posted on the Davis Law Group Car Accident and Personal Injury Lawyers website.

Chase away January doldrums with Create classes
NEWPORT – Jenni Barry will be offering a Kimekomi class Saturday, Jan.11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $36. This is the Japanese method of tucking fabric into designs. All materials are provided. Participants can bring favorite fabrics and a snack.
Olivia Giannasi will be teaching her small antler basket class on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Antlers need to be prepared on Friday, Jan. 24 from 1-3 p.m. Bring small needle nose pliers and a sack lunch. This class is $45.
Tai Chi will move to Thursdays in January from 10-11:30 am.

WSU Master Gardeners offer ‘Winter Tunnel Gardening’ class
NEWPORT – This Master Gardener workshop will be held at the Create Arts Center, 900 W 4th St., in Newport, on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6:30 p.m. Dawn Trammell will cover all aspects of short-season, cold-climate gardening, beginning with seed selection and sowing, transplanting and other gardening tips. The workshop will then focus on successful winter gardening through the use of season extension techniques, especially high tunnels and how to construct them.
Dawn lives in North Idaho and has been winter-gardening in our cold snowy climate for the past 10 years. She enjoys sharing her tips and tricks with the community.
