Newport track splits Medical Lake meet

MEDICAL LAKE – The Newport track and field team went to Medical Lake for a meet Tuesday, April 30, with the boys getting a win and the girls losing in the Northeast A League dual meet.

The boys won 76-68 and the girls lost 113-30.

Newport coach Levi Litowitz was happy with the results.

“It’s always good to go out of league play with a win,” he says. “Now our entire focus is getting kids to districts and state!”

Aidan Kramer won first in the 100 and 200-meter races, setting personal record times. He ran the 100 in 11.73 and the 200 in 23.95. Lucas Crosswhite won the 110-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 16.67 seconds.

Toren Mitcham won second in triple jump 35-feet 0.5-inch personal record jump.

Distance and relays coach Nicholas Westfall was also happy with the results.

The boys 4X100 relay team of Jacksen Crosswhite, Anthony Hoffman, Kramer and Lucas Crosswhite won that race.

The girls 4X100 team also won. Savannah Garris, Elizabeth Whitehousem, Emmaliea Bilaski and Joelle Brandtner run on that relay team.

Westfall says Tanner Rheinford had a big double PR in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter races.

“Running both those races is a challenge but PRing as well is really impressive,” Westfall says.

On the girls’ side, Aurelia Johnson placed second in High Jump 4-feet, 2-inch PR. Brandtner won the long jump, with Garris winning second.

Newport hosts the Newport Invite Wednesday, May 8, at 3 p.m.
