EDITOR’S NOTE: The police reports, taken from dispatch logs provided to The Miner by law enforcement agencies, are not intended to be an exact report, but rather a comprehensive list of police calls in Pend Oreille and West Bonner counties. Dispatch also fields calls for the Kalispel Tribe’s property in Airway Heights. Certain police calls are generally omitted because of space constraints. These include, but aren’t limited to ambulance calls for illness, unfounded alarms, traffic stops, dogs at large, abandoned vehicles, 911 hang–ups and civil standbys. All dispositions for the police reports are assumed to be active, assists or transfers at press time.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Rumsey Drive, report that neighbor ran naked through the house, person reports damage to his cabin.
DEACESED PERSON: Hwy. 2, Newport, report of subject found deceased in house fire.
ANIMAL PROBLEM: Moonbeam Court, Elk, report that neighbor’s dogs, one black and one blue heeler, continue to come onto callers’ property and antagonize caller’s dogs.
VIOLATION OF ORDER: Graham Rd., Cusick, report of respondent of protection order sending threatening texts.
POSSIBLE DUI: Hwy. 211, report that vehicle came off highway and high-centered on neighbor’s property, driver seemed intoxicated.
DECEASED PERSON: E. 4th Ave., report person found father deceased.
ERRATIC DRIVER: Hwy. 2, report of blue Dodge pickup passing in no passing lanes and on corners.
DECEASED PERSON: E. Metaline St., Metaline, report person went to check on friend, he is unresponsive laying against the front door.
ARREST: N. Spokane Ave., Newport, Leonard F.
Tobeck, 54, of Newport was arrested on out of state warrant.
JUVENILE PROBLEM: S. Warren Ave., Newport, person reports her teenage son is being threatened by other juveniles at school.
DISTRUBANCE: Qlispe River Way, report person took a tv tray and is breaking it against the railing.
TRESPASSING: E. 4th Ave., report that subject was evicted from apartments, showed up being belligerent and causing problems.
ARREST: Caden Charles Hartley, 30, of Newport was arrested for first degree assault, aiming/discharging a firearm in a public place and unlawful display of a firearm.
TUESDAY JAN. 7
ARREST: W 4th St., Newport, Michele Schulz, 51, of Newport was arrested on about of state warrant.
FIRE: Hwy. 2 & Allen Rd., person reports seeing black smoke maybe coming from a barn.
ARREST: Stadium Drive, Newport, Krisstarah T.
Bennett, 33, of Newport was arrested on a local warrant.
HAZMAT: 2nd Ave., Cusick, report that person can smell gas in house, does not have propane.
AGENCY ASSIST: Hwy 211, Newport MISSING PERSON: Frater Lake, Cusick, text to 911 reporting 2 lost skiers in the Frater Lake area, one male, one female, both in their ‘70s.
MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: Hwy. 20, Newport, hit and run reported.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: W. Walnut St., Newport, officer out with green GMC truck.

NOISE COMPLAINT: Sullivan Lake Rd, Ione, person reports lumber company starts their equipment up at 0200-0300 every morning and wakes them up.
VEHICLE FIRE: W. Larch St., Newport, report of vehicle on fire.
FIRE: Hwy. 2, Newport, report house that burned down is smoking and person can see embers.
AGENCY ASSIST: W. 4th Ave., Metaline, assist CPS.
ASSAULT: N. Newport Ave., person reports that yesterday an unknown male groped and kissed her on the head.
BOOK AND RELEASE: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Benjamin Alexander Hankins, 39, of Colville was booked and released for violating a protection order.
ARREST: W. Wisconsin Ave., Ione, Luke J.
Schmidt, 40, was arrested.
MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH NO INJURY: Hwy.
31, Ione, report that vehicle is damaged and driver is uninjured.

BOOK AND RELEASE: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Erin Cheryl Schmid, 41, of Newport was booked and released for assault 3 and resisting arrest.
ERRATIC DRIVER: Hwy. 20, report of vehicle with poor lane control.
THREATENING: Houghton St., person reports receiving threats by texts.
ARREST: W. 6th St., Justin R. Everret, 19, of Reardan was arrested for fourth degree assault and harassment.

NO INJURY MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: W. 5th St., report that vehicle backed into other vehicle.
VIOLATION OF ORDER: Driskill Rd., person reports respondent is parked across the street.
HARASSMENT: W. Pine St., Newport, harassment calls over person selling Christmas presents.
SATURDAY, JAN. 11 DISORDERLY: E. Blackwell St., report that male subject appears intoxicated outside of store.
THEFT: River Rd., Cusick, report of vehicle theft.
JUVENILE PROBLEM: W. 4th St., Newport, report of juveniles running around area, beating on complainant’s gate.

DISTURBANCE: Calispel Ave., report of male in bedroom who will not leave.
ANIMAL BITE: Black Rd., report of subject bitten by loose dog on the hand.
ARREST: Pines Rd., James E Gandy, 50, of Newport was arrested on an out of county warrant.
THREATENING: Pickett Rd., person reports receiving a threatening email.
ANIMAL PROBLEM: LeClerc Rd. S., deer needs to be euthanized.
ANIMAL CRUELTY: Spring Valley Rd., report of 4 horses with no hay or shelter, can see their rib cages.

ARREST: Spirit Lake Cutoff, Spirit Lake, Matthew Heyden, 38, of Spirit Lake was arrested for grand theft, burglary, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

ARREST: High St., Priest River, Jason Robinson, 51, of Priest River, was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Bonner County.
SHOPLIFTING: Tank Rd., Oldtown, two juveniles were charged with commercial burglary.

ARREST: N. Boyer Rd., Sandpoint, Tamara Reep, 42, of Newport was arrested based on a warrant from Spokane County.
