Spartans on the road all week

PRIEST RIVER – The Spartan varsity wrestling team started the week at Riverside Tuesday, Jan. 14 after the newspaper went to print. Priest River travels to Moscow High School Wednesday, Jan.15 with wrestling starting at 5 p.m., then to Timberlake for a meet Thursday, Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. The Spartans finish out the week at Lewiston for the Clearwater Classic Friday, Jan. 17 (TBA).

Rasmussen, Davis take firsts at Crusader Classic

COLBERT – Selkirk wrestlers Nathan Rasmussen and Jameson Davis won firsts at the annual Crusader Classic at Northwest Christian Saturday, Jan 11. Wrestling in the 175-pound bracket Rasmussen beat his Almira Coulee Hartline opponent with a fall at 1:39 in the first round. Davis also won, pinning his Riverside opponent 2:35 into the match.

Jason Chantry took second at 144-pounds, pinning two opponents and beating another by a technical fall before getting pinned in the finals.

Selkirk travels to Ferris for a dual Saturday, Jan. 18 (TBA). Then it’s off to Republic for the NE 1B Mixer Tuesday, Jan. 21. Weigh-in is at 4 p.m. and wrestling starts at 5 p.m.
