EDITOR’S NOTE: The police reports, taken from dispatch logs provided to The Miner by law enforcement agencies, are not intended to be an exact report, but rather a comprehensive list of police calls in Pend Oreille and West Bonner counties. Dispatch also fields calls for the Kalispel Tribe’s property in Airway Heights.
Certain police calls are generally omitted because of space constraints. These include, but aren’t limited to ambulance calls for illness, unfounded alarms, traffic stops, dogs at large, abandoned vehicles, 911 hang–ups and civil standbys. All dispositions for the police reports are assumed to be active, assists or transfers at press time.

FIRE: Leclerc Rd. N., Ione, report from person looking across the river who could see a lot of smoke but was unsure of the exact location.
HARASSMENT: Hwy. 20, Newport, report of male harassing subject.
ANIMAL PROBLEM: Hwy. 2 & Scotia Rd., report of moose dead on roadside.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Hwy. 31, report that someone spray-painted graffiti on outside of building sometime over the weekend.
VEHICLE PROWL: Hwy. 2, report of pole saw taken from work truck Monday, person may have video.
ANIMAL PROBLEM: S. Warren Ave., Newport, report of subject in emergency room with bite from his own dog.
ARREST: Travis Robert Michael Labash, 20, of Cusick was arrested for domestic violence.
TRESPASSING: Telephone Rd.
E., Newport, report of subject driving up to another property on an easement road.
ANIMAL PROBLEM: Allen Rd., Elk, report that dogs keep running from property and chasing cars, making them swerve.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 22
ANIMAL PROBLEM: Camden Rd., Newport, verbal warning issued to owner of small, tan-colored dog that keeps running loose and following person down the road, running in and out of the road.
TRESPASSING: Stateline Rd. N., Newport
ARREST: Shyanne M. Ziarnick, 24, of Newport was arrested on a Washington State Department of Corrections warrant.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Houghton St., Ione, report of two people trying to break into church.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Lucky Joe Rd., Newport, report of subject possible cutting down U.S. Forest Service trees.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: W. Pine St., Newport, report of bloody footprints at apartments.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: Greenhouse Rd., Ione, report of dogs running loose, chasing FedEx truck.
TRESPASSING: Bond Rd., Cusick, report of daughter’s ex-boyfriend refusing to leave.
ANIMAL PROBLEM: 1st Ave., Cusick, report of rottweiler with puppy running loose in skate park.
DISTURBANCE: Riverside Ave., report of male at residence causing a disturbance.

ARREST: Hwy. 2, Oldtown, Corey Lyghts, 27, of Spokane was arrested for resisting and obstructing law enforcement.

SHOPLIFTING: Hwy. 2, Oldtown CIVIL PROTECTION ORDER: Jupiter Way, Spirit Lake, deputies responded to a report of stalking in the Spirit Lake area.
ASSIST OTHER AGENCY: Railroad Ave., Blanchard
ARREST: Cypress Court, Priest River, Patrick Nelson, 36, of Colorado was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

TRAFFIC VIOLATION: B And B Ranch Rd & Hwy. 41, Oldtown, a 26-year-old Oldtown man was cited and released for driving without privileges.
SATURDAY, JAN. 25
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Hwy. 2, Oldtown, a 33-year-old Priest River man was cited and released for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
