Lots happening at Create Art Center
NEWPORT - The CREATE Arts Center is hosting a concert and variety of classes in February.
Weezil Samter of CREATE is teaching a hammering class from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The class includes making pewter and tin coins and copper rings, as well as punch-stamping designs on five coins.
It is $20 to attend with a material fee of $10. Attendees must be 8 or older and are required to pre-register.
Local artists Carl Rey and Truck Mills are returning to CREATE on Feb. 22. The artists perform “lively” music on harmonicas and guitars, according to a press release.
Tickets to the concert are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and free for students. Attendees can purchase tickets at CREATE’s office or online on its website at www.createarts.org.
Angela Drew of CREATE teaches a hand-building pottery class from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month, except this Wednesday. Attendees learn common methods to make an item of their choice.
The class is provided by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and is free, aside from a $15 materials fee. It is for youth ages 8 to 12, who are also required to pre-register.

Priest River scholarship program taking applications
PRIEST RIVER - The Distinguished Young Women of Priest River is taking applications for its April program.
DYW is a scholarship and leadership program with an emphasis on young women “being their best selves” and competing in five categories: scholastics, fitness, interview, self-expression and talent, according to DYW. Juniors who graduate in 2026 and live in the West Bonner County School District are eligible to apply.

Priest River Senior Center holding benefit bingo
PRIEST RIVER - The Priest River Senior Center is holding a benefit bingo night at 6 p.m. on Feb. 7.
Sweetheart Bingo is supporting the Priest River Community Easter Egg Hunt on April 19. This bingo night features a $100 blackout, baked goods and door prizes.
The Egg Hunt organizers hope to have 6,000 candy- filled eggs this year. For more information, call 208-448-1949.
