COEUR D’ALENE — Senior Colm McLaimtaig continues to dominate high school wrestling on behalf of the Priest River Spartans, with the homeschooler winning the championship match at North Idaho Rumble, Jan. 31Feb. 1 at Coeur d’Alene.
McLaimtaig, 144-pounds, won three matches by pins and a 21-6 technical fall to take first place. A winner in 24 of his last 25 matches, Mc-Laimtaig holds a 39-5 record on the year. Last week’s win was his third tournament win of the year, according to Priest River Spartan Wrestling Facebook page.
Senior Orion Grimes, 126, had two wins by pin in the championship rounds and one by decision in the consolation ladder for Priest River, which finished 18th out of 29 scoring teams.
Priest River heads to Bonners Ferry for the Conrad Garner Invite, Friday, Feb. 7-8 (TBA).
