OLYMPIA - Kalispel Tribe of Indians’ Vice Chairman Curt Holmes was invited to join the Washington state Governor’s Transition Team, representing the Kalispel Tribe and Eastern Washington.
“It was truly an honor to be selected to be on the transition team representing our Tribe and Tribal interests in general,” Holmes said on the tribe’s Facebook page. “It was an amazing learning experience I will never forget.”
As one of 53 people and one of four tribal representatives on the team, his appointment is an opportunity to strengthen a continued relationship with Ferguson, a Democrat, and to spotlight issues important to the Tribe and the greater Spokane region. Holmes was also invited to attend the private swearing-in ceremony, an honor reserved for close friends and family of the Governor.
The transition team is not currently active. It existed to support the governor’s transition, which ended Jan. 15, according to Brionna Aho, the governor’s spokesperson.
