Letters, phone calls from the Tax Commission going out

BOISE — The Idaho State Tax Commission is sending out more than 25,700 billing letters to taxpayers who filed individual and business income tax returns this year but haven’t paid the total amount due.

These Statement of Account letters are for the 2023 tax filing year. The bills include the tax owed, plus any penalties and interest that apply. Payments were due April 15.

“If you receive a tax bill in the mail, don’t ignore it,” Tax Commission Chairman Jeff McCray said. “Pay the full amount due or use the contact information included with your bill to reach out to us for guidance.”

Beginning May 20, the Tax Commission will follow up by phone with people who received the letters. The calls are to help educate taxpayers and assist them in resolving their debt.

Taxpayers have many tax payment options, including Quick Pay, credit card, debit card, check, or a payment plan if they qualify.

If you have questions about your 2023 individual or business income tax return or need help with your account, call the Tax Commission at (208) 334-7633. For more information about Idaho taxes, visit www.tax.idaho. gov.
