Cutting programs with no thought to who it hurts
To the editor, As I write this I am so scared of what this orange blob is going to do next. My heart goes out to all these people now that are out of jobs. I survive on Medicare. Without Medicare I can’t pay my bills, I can’t buy food and I can’t go to my doctor or get the help that I need medically because I couldn’t afford my insurance. I’m sure I’m not the only one out there but he’s hurt.
I actually have zero compassion for those of you that think he’s doing a great job! Cutting programs right and left with no thought of who benefits or who he hurts because he doesn’t care. This is the most evil man probably on the planet. Oh I’m sure there’s other evil people such as Putin who he’s almost as evil as him.
As far as him punishing people because he was found guilty of his crimes is BS. Nobody forced him to do the things that he did. He felt he was above the law, he filled the courts with his own judges so he could do whatever he wanted and get away with it. I’m ashamed of the people like Merrick Garland, milk toast he did nothing when he had the chance to and allowed Trump to just walk away with his hands in his pockets and everyone else’s. This is probably the worst time in America we’re almost all of us.

America is coming back
To the editor, I don’t often agree with Pete Scobby, but I did last week (Jan. 29). People across the country are renaming buildings, streets, airports, etc. to Trump themes. In fact, a House Rep. from Florida just introduced legislation to add Trump’s face to Mount Rushmore. Interesting. You’re catching on Pete!
Trump donated his salary to charity in his first term and is doing so again this time. In the end he has given up about 3.5M. Well, he’s won his third lawsuit from the media. Meta/Facebook owes him 25M for censoring and taking down his FB account. He is also in the settlement phase with CBS News for election interference. He has more cases to file. The media is making him rich while President.
Week two: the President of Colombia is holding the trophy for the shortest trade war in history, 10 hours. They turned two US flights back with illegal migrants. Trump told him he would tariff Colombia if they didn’t take them. Colombian Pres. says go ahead. Ten hours later says wait, I’ll send my Presidential plane to get them. Tariffs would have crushed Colombia.
At last count ICE is detaining 1,000 illegals per day. Trump ordered 30K beds to be opened at Gitmo for the worst of the worst. DOGE is saving America about 1B per day. Trump has given up to 2M Federal employees a buy-out option. They quit their jobs and get 8 months’ pay. That’s the most he can do without another appropriation from congress.
A lawsuit exposes DEI hiring policy within the FAA. I’m sure you’ve heard about the plane/ helicopter crash. The FAA turned down 3K qualified applications for DEI hires instead. Trump signed an EO to get rid of DEI. They/them is now was/were.

Tragedy and blame
To the editor, Following the aircraft disaster in Washington DC Trump and Hegseth blamed the tragedy on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the air traffic controller staffing along with Presidents Obama and Biden. In their opinion anyone who is not white, straight or male lack the ability to handle this important job. Minorities or women need not apply.
Granted, there was a moment of silence. Then the immediate spin to politicize the tragedy. Not totally unexpected from a convicted felon and our new Defense Department head.
Empathy is not part of their vocabulary.

Voters made Trump owner of USA
To the editor, Last week I wrote that Trump was like an unchecked king as president. I was mistaken as he is more like an owner of a house, car, boat or RV. You made him the owner of the USA by voting him back into office. He owns this country and means to do with it what he pleases.
Trump reminds me of the owner of a home on the hill above me in a wooded development. He bought his home and before it was completed, he started cutting down all the trees on his lot. Before he could finish, a tree fell across the overhead powerlines on Labor Day knocking out power to the development. A line crew came on triple overtime and fixed the powerlines. His bill was several thousand dollars and that was the end of his tree cutting. Trump will make similar decisions and we will pay the price of his ownership mistakes. The Supreme Court has made Trump immune from any laws or mistakes he makes. Republicans are afraid of Trump and his billionaire backers who will primary any dissenters out of office.
Americans want simple phrases of political propaganda to address complex problems. They remind me of the ignorant peasant Christian masses of the Dark Ages. Perhaps a Grand Inquisition is coming to torture citizens into political submission.
It looks like Trump froze the federal assistance funds to rebuild the homes in Elk destroyed by the Oregon Road fire. Trump wants to eliminate FEMA and leave it up to the states to recover from future natural disasters. Meanwhile eggs and gasoline prices remain expensive.
