Jaxson Chantry enroute to a silver medal in the 144-pound weight class at the Mat Classic state wrestling championship tournament at the Tacoma Dome. The event took place Feb. 20-21.
TACOMA – Jameson Davis won the silver medal, taking second place in the 165-pound weight division at the Mat Classic State Wrestling tournament at the Tacoma Dome Feb. 20-21. He was joined by Selkirk Ranger teammate Jaxson Chantry, who also took a silver for second place at 144 pounds.
Both got to the finals, where they were defeated by decisions.
Chantry got a quick pin in his first match, won by injury in his second match, then went on to pin his next two opponents. He lost a close 9-6 match in the finals to Okanogan’s Chad Bushing.
Davis got a bye in his first match, won his second with a 17-3 major decision, pinned his third opponent, won the next match 11-5 putting him in the finals against Tonasket’s Chub Plank. Plank got the 13-8 decision.
Nathan Rasmussen won sixth at 175-pounds. He won his first match by a fall, won a 9-2 decision in his second match before losing a tight 5-3 match.
Tristan Vanarsdale lost his first match at 175.
