Highway 2 was closed for nearly 12 hours Friday, Feb. 21, after a logging truck hit a Tesla head on shortly after noon, just east of Diamond Lake. According to the Washington State Patrol, 31-year-old Austin R. Fuller of Newport died at the scene. The driver of the logging truck, 32-year-old Blake R. Adams of Look Lake, was heading northbound at about milepost 328 when he moved into the southbound lane of traffic in an attempt to avoid a turning vehicle. It hit the Tesla on the driver side. The log truck came to rest on the west side of the road in the trees and the Tesla came to rest on a private driveway on the west side of the road. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
