ID PUC sets deadlines for rate increase intervenors

BOISE — The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has set deadlines for intervenor participation in and written comments on a North Idaho water utility’s application to increase the rates it charges for service.

Priest Lake Water is asking for commission approval to increase its rates from the current single, flat monthly rate of $37 to a flat monthly rate of $98 for residential customers and $100 for commercial customers.

Priest Lake Water serves 72 customers in the Marvin Estates Subdivision near Priest Lake. When the subdivision is completely built out, Priest Lake Water could serve up to 113 lots, according to a press release.

The commission, which can approve, deny or modify the application, has set a March 12 deadline to request intervenor status. Intervenors in a case can participate in the proceedings for applications submitted to the commission.

The commission is accepting written comments on the applications until April 9.

Those interested in becoming an intervenor can email [email protected] or mail their request to Commission Secretary, Idaho Public Utilities Com- mission, PO Box 83720, Boise, ID 837200074. The street address for express mail is 11331 W. Chinden Blvd., Building 8, Suite 201-A, Boise, ID 83714.

Comments must be filed through the commission’s website at puc.idaho. gov or emailed to both the commission secretary at [email protected] and Priest Lake Water at jaredhorlacher@ yahoo.com and sarah@smithmccowenlaw. com.

Instead of filing online or over email, comments can also be mailed to the commission secretary and Priest River Water. Mail to Priest River Water must be addressed to Jared Horlacher, 279 Tracy Lane, Priest Lake, ID 83856 and Sarah B. McOwen at 102 Superior St., PO Box C, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
