METALINE FALLS — The Metaline Falls Town Hall is now open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Mayor Tara Leininger is in the office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and is “usually” up for a visit, according to the press release. If after business hours, call 509-4462211 and leave a message to be returned in a timely manner.

If the town clerk/treasurer Edward Estrada needs to host a webinar or conference, a sign will be on the door. According to a press release, this will not be a regular occurrence.

Town residents can drop off their sewer payments in the drop-box by the front door.

In a wastewater emergency, contact maintenance director Monte Rice at 509675-2930. Town residents are urged to not stop Rice if he is snow plowing, and to call the Town Hall and leave a message for him instead.

Metaline Falls water and power are through the Pend Oreille Public Utility District and all problems or questions must be directed to the PUD.

The Metaline Falls Town Council meets at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

Out of the Box presents weekend play festival

NEWPORT — Out of the Box Entertainment is presenting the One-Act Play Festival this weekend.

Six plays will be performed at the Create Arts Center at 900 4th St. in Newport. The showtimes are 6 p.m. on Feb. 28 and March 1 and 2 p.m. on March 2.

Out of the Box Entertainment is introducing Marcus Spring, the youngest cast member in this weekend’s festival.

Tickets are $10 and available at the door or on Out of the Box Entertainment’s website at outoftheboxentertainment. org.

Pend Oreille Road announces change in restrictions

NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille County Road Department announced a change in road restrictions on Feb. 24.

Effective 9 a.m. on Feb. 26, the south county, mid-county and north county road districts will have restrictions in effect.

Essential services and emergency hauling will be subject to application review and approval. The application form is on the department’s website at pendoreille.gov/ public-works.

Calls about road restrictions or permits are to be directed to the Office of the County Engineer at 509-4474513 or [email protected]. Calls to road foremen or road shops are not authorized means of obtaining permits.

Current restrictions, road lists, maps and hauling permit applications are also on the department’s website.
