SPOKANE - Innovia Foundation announced the opening of its fifth annual Photo Contest under the theme Celebrating Community.

In honor of the Foundation’s 50th Anniversary serving communities in Eastern Washington and North Idaho, the contest invites photographers to submit images that showcase what they love most about their community.

“As we mark our 50th Anniversary and reflect back on a vast collection of images illustrating five decades of community impact, we are reminded of the power of visual storytelling to capture the beauty and essence of our region,” Shelly O’Quinn, CEO of Innovia Foundation, said.

“Through our photo contest, we invite you to join us in honoring the remarkable people and places that make our region so special,” she said.

Open to photographers of all ages and experiences and free to enter, the contest includes the following categories for submission: People, Landscape/Wildlife, Education, Arts & Culture, Community, Nonprofit Mission in Action and Youth (open to photographers aged 0-17).

Photographs must be taken within Innovia Foundation’s 20-county service area in Eastern Washington and North Idaho and children under the age of 18 are required to have a guardian’s permission to enter. Limited to five photographs per entrant with submissions closing Friday, June 28.

To benefit the dedicated network of nonprofit organizations serving our region, the first-place overall photographer will receive a $1,000 grant awarded to their favorite 501(c)3 organization, in addition to a canvas print of their photograph and a feature on Innovia’s website.

First place winners in each individual category will receive a $200 grant awarded to a 501(c)3 organization of their choice, a canvas print and website showcasing.
