PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Spartan baseball team opened the season with a win, beating St. Maries 8-3, the first time they have beaten the Lumberjacks since 2014, according to a report in the Bonner County Daily Bee.
Priest River had a big four run second inning to take the lead, erasing a two run St. Maries lead. The Spartans never trailed again, adding a run in the third, two more in the fifth and another in the sixth. St. Maries scored a third run in the fourth inning but never got back in the game.
The Spartans head to Timberlake for a game at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20.
