The Evergreen Art Association and Newport Creative District hosted a painting party at Newport High School Thursday, March 20. Local artist Clare Clark led participants through an acrylic painting session of a lake scene. The event was a fundraiser for the EAA scholarship fund, which is awarded to a high school student pursuing a career in the arts. Students from Newport, Priest River, Cusick and Selkirk high schools can apply. EAA has awarded over 37 scholarships to local students since 1988.
No students applied for the scholarship in 2024, so the money was donated to Priest River Lamanna High School’s art program.
