Artist Q&A: Janice Gleason
Town: Newport Artistic medium: “Right now my main medium is transparent watercolor,” Gleason says. “I have tried most other mediums and liked them, but watercolor has a special attraction for me.”
Question: Why Do You Make This Type of Art?
Answer: Mostly I paint landscapes, but I also occasionally do portraits just for fun. I like the chance to explore my subject and learn more about nature in the process.
Q: What Inspires You?
A: I enjoy taking lessons from Sam Brooks at Create Arts Center in Newport. I find it inspiring to be around other artists and creative people.
Q: Do you have any exhibits/shows coming up?
A: I exhibit my work around Newport with Evergreen Art Association, of which I have been a member for many years. We also find other opportunities to enter shows in the wider area. I just exhibited at Jacklin Gallery in Post Falls and I also exhibit at the Vessel Gallery in Newport.
