Newport wrestling gets pins and medals

KETTLE FALLS — The Newport Wrestling Club, comprised of wrestlers aged 5–14, took 29 wrestlers to Kettle Falls Saturday, March 29, and came back with 29 pins and 22 medals.

“Watching the kids improve each week after putting in the work at practice is one of my favorite parts of being a coach,” says Dylan Ellison, wrestling coach. “Some kids walked away today with their first wins and first medals ever, and it not only brings them so much excitement, but me as well. Keep up the hard work Grizzlies, it’s paying off.”

Here are the results: First place: Maliki Hoover, Kash Kardos, Steven Jolly, Leeland Schabell, Duke Fenton, Bentley Lawrence, Emilie Baugh Second place: Rhyker Sutton, Talon Noordam and Johnathon Gregory Third place: Brayden Chamberlain, Bryden Ellison, Wyatt Fenton, Jayden Watson, Colton Bolyard, Rowdy Reynolds, Cody Wheymouth, Jaxon McGee, Lincoln Richardson, Baylee Wiltse, Myracle Hoover and Ryan Akens-Blain The team travels to Lakeside next for for the final league tournament before heading to the Jason Crawford State Tournament in Spokane Saturday, April 12.
