NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille County Library District is offering the county an immersive look at the best local hikes in April.

“Wild Washington: Best Hikes in Pend Oreille County & Beyond” is an event hosted by the library district in partnership with the Washington Trails Association. Event attendees will gain insights into top-rated hiking trails, receive expert tips on outdoor safety and sustainability and can connect with adventurers and conservation advocates.

Designed for both seasoned hikers and newcomers, the event showcases landscapes, hidden gems and “must-visit” trails in one of Washington’s most scenic regions, according to a library district press release.

The event is on April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Newport Library, 12:30 p.m. in Cusick’s Calispel Valley Library and 3 p.m. at the Metalines Community Library.

For more information about this event or other programs at the library district, email info@pocld. org, call a local branch at 800-3663654 or visit the library district’s website at pocld.org.
