Mark Sherman, 58, of Newport browsing through books in the Friends of the Library Book Sale Room Thursday, April 10 in the Newport Library. The Friends of the Pend Oreille Library District is a nonprofit 501(c)3 volunteer group that fundraises for library events, technology and experiences. Proceeds from the Friends’ book sale go to library programs for all ages, books for toddlers, summer reading prizes and a backyard community garden.
