Newport takes rivalry game against Priest River

Under a partly cloudy sky, a crowd of Newport and Priest River fans gathered in Newport to watch a spirited nonleague rivalry game between the Newport Grizzlies and the Priest River Spartans Thursday, April 10. It was a duel between pitchers that ended in Newport winning 2-0, with Newport senior pitcher Hank Kirkwood striking out 18 to Spartan freshman Jacob Best’s 13.
