Weight gain presentation offered

NEWPORT – The Selkirk Alliance for Science will present “The Surprising Biochemistry of Weight Gain” at their next Power of Science presentation at Create Arts Center, 900 W 4th St., Newport, on May 23 starting at 6:30 p.m. Learn about how and why we gain and maintain extra weight.

Certified Nutrition Health Coach, Kamori Cattadoris, will explain about the chemical processes and substances that are within living organisms.

“Clearly, if it were just a simple matter of ‘Eat Less, Move More’ we’d all be at our ideal weight and feeling in control,” she said.

A medical doctor at the University of Colorado, along with other contributing scientists, have designed experiments to track the factors driving our modern weight-gain epidemic and associated chronic diseases.

Kamori will take us through several questions: Why do we gain weight? Why can’t we just drop the unwanted pounds at will – and keep them off? What is the ancestral diet? How does what and how we eat flip the human biochemistry switch from surviving the famine to outrunning the tiger? She will present answers we can implement in our own lives.

This Power of Science presentation is open to the public without an admission fee; however, donations are always welcome. The event is made possible by its sponsors, Create Arts Center, Kalispel Natural Resources Department, Responsible Growth NE Washington, and private donors.
