BRIEFLY Circle Moon Theater hosts Yesterday’s Broadway

NEWPORT – Northwoods Performing Arts announced its annual Spring show, “Fresh from Yesterday’s Broadway.” Under the direction of Mark D. Caldwell, the entire two-hour show features well-known chorale, ensemble, and solo songs from classic musicals of the last several decades. Enjoy an evening of toe-tapping Broadway nostalgia at non-New York prices. Tickets are now on sale for performances scheduled May 31, June 1, 4, 6, and June 7-8.

Tickets are $35 per person for Dinner Shows, or $14 for Show Only. Senior and Children’s tickets are $12. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dining service begins at 6:30 p.m. and the curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. “Broadway’s” menus are from Village Kitchen (May 31, Lasagna & Chicken Fettuccine); Owen’s Catering (June 1 & June 4, Fried Chicken); Two Tones Restaurant (June 6, Chicken Pot Pie); Country Snack Shack (June 7, Bacon-wrapped Chicken); Mi Pueblo (June 8, Arroz Con Pollo).

Rey and Mills concert announced

NEWPORT – Carl Rey and Truck Mills will present a concert at Create Arts Center Saturday, May 25 at 7 p.m. They add their love of traditional blues, country, rag time jazz and vocal harmonies to the varied material they perform. Weezil also returns with his twisted copper bracelets on Friday, May 17 from 3-5 p.m. He will be teaching complex patterns of twisted wire to create unique bracelets. Photo contest participants requested

CUSICK – In anticipation of the 2024 Pend Oreille County Fair Theme, “The Best in the West,” Pend Oreille County Democrats are inviting all Pend Oreille County residents to enter their second annual photography contest.

Categories include: county events, family, scenery and wildlife. A descriptive sentence or two and a title indicating why the contestant thinks their photo depicts “The Best in the West.”

Photos will be displayed at the POCD fair booth, and fair attendees will vote for their two favorites. First and second place winners will receive an Ace Hardware gift card for $50 and $30, respectively. The winning photos will be published in The Miner Newspapers, Selkirk Sun, River Valley Beacon and Elk Sentinel.

Spring Fever Bazaar at Usk Community Club May 18

USK – The Spring Fever Bazaar is set for the Usk Community Club Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 2442 Black Road.

Organizers promise one stop shopping with something for everyone.

Local crafters will showcase unique hand crafted gifts, such as jewelry, soaps and lotions, Afghans, aprons, tote bags, wooden kitchen and home deco items, decals, plants, gift baskets, baked items and Tupperware, Scentsy and more. Charity organizations will offer new and gently used items to fund their local projects. Organizations include Relay for Life, Eastern Star, The Women’s Shelter, Cusick Food Bank and Friends of Libraries.

Lunch is served from 11-11:30 a.m. All proceeds support the community club buildings and utilities.
